Special Events
Even though this isn't
normally the time of year to watch for brush fires, it has been extremely
dry so please be carefull out there. Watch the sign in front of the
Chamber Information building for the latest update on conditions.
The
flea market this year has been going great and is even bigger than last
year. On July 4th, we set a new record with 462 vendors. We
have grown to be the largest weekly flea market in the state and we are
the largest Monday flea market in the country!! The flea market operates
on Mondays from Memorial Day thru Labor Day and the hours are 8AM till
3PM. UPDATE
This was our biggest season ever with 6 days at over 400 spaces.
Total spaces for the season, 5816.
On Labor Day, many of the firefighters gathered at the
flea market and set out their boots to collect money for hurricane Katrina
victims. Total money raised was $1070. Thank you for your generous
donations.
Remember
to change the batteries in your smoke detectors once a year!!! Smoke
detectors are required at one per floor and one in each bedroom.
New construction requires smoke detectors to be hard wired and interconnected.
Remember, there is no grandfather clause when it comes to smoke detectors.
