Welcome to the

Many people have
asked where all of our fund raising monies go from the Annual Spring Fish
Fry and our Weekly flea market which is held in the summer from Memorial
Day thru Labor Day. We felt perhaps this web page would be a good
way for you to see how all of your greatly appreciated support is used.
Many thanks to the businesses that have hosted our Annual Fish Fry.

This John Deere Gator was purchased as a multi-purpose vehicle. It is used each week at the flea market for marking spaces, transporting personnel and used for medical purposes. For the fire department it is used in wildland fire suppression and transporting injured victims such as snowmobile accidents, hikers, bikers and wherever there is a need to go off road. It is a 6 wheel vehicle with the option of 2 or 4 driving. Cost of this vehicle was $8500. Cost of the trailer for hauling it was $2000. |
This is the wildland fire suppression unit that slides into the back of the John Deere Gator. It had a 50 gallon booster tank, a 5 hp pump and a 1 gallon foam tank. It can be used either as straight water or as a foam unit with aids in keeping fire from spreading. This unit can also be used to transport injured patients. The cost of this unit was $3500.

This is the medical transport unit that slides into the back of the John Deere Gator. It makes the Gator capable of carrying the patient and 3 rescue personnel. The passenger seat can be turned around backwards to aid in patient care. The cost of this unit was $3200. |
Our Rescue department now has a total of 3 AED's. (Automatic External Defibulator) This is our main unit which is carried in the Rescue Van. Our main Engine and the pick-up truck are both set up to handle medical emergencies and both vehicles also carry AED's. |
The Thermal Imaging Camera made by Cairns is used to aid firefighters in fire suppression by locating "hot spots". This unit is used to find areas inside of walls, ceilings and floors that are still producing heat and could cause a rekindle. This aids the firefighters in shortening overhaul time and sometimes having to return to the fire because of rekindle. It can also be used in locating lost hunters, hikers, etc.. It can easily pick up body heat out in the woods or wherever needed. Cost of this unit was $18,000. |
This is a photo of one of the other 2 AED's our department has. Both of these AED's were donations. One was donated by Jack McGregor (Blink Bonnie Supper Club) and the other was donated by the Women's Service Club.

Our rescue van is a 1997 Chevy 1 ton which was purchased thru Sedlak's Chevrolet. After purchasing the van, it was sent to Texas to be converted to 4 wheel drive. After it's trip down south, it returned to Rhinelander where the extended top was added. At that point it went to Boulder Junction to have custom cabinets installed. It was paid for in full by Fire Department fund raising money at a cost of $35,000. |
Our Brush Truck unit was actually a U.S. Army Ambulance at one time. Originally they were used in Germany but because their roads were to narrow, the vehicles were rolling over. The Ambulance bodies were removed and the trucks were shipped back to the U.S.. It's a 1 ton Chevy with a 454 cu. in. engine and 4 wheel drive with tandem wheels on the rear. The box was custom built in Marion WI to our specifications. Our total cost in this vehicle is $18,000.

The portable fill station is mounted in the back of our Heavy Rescue unit. It has a 4 bottle cascade system running at 4500 psi. It is used to fill air pack bottles on the fire grounds. Total cost of this unit was $6000. |
The air pack bottles you see here are the NEW light weight bottles. The yellow one in the picture is the older, heavy bottle. These bottles greatly reduce fatigue in our firefighters. Our department currently has 16 of the light wieght bottles at a cost of $600 each. |
Recently our air compressor that is used to keep the air tanks on the trucks charged, gave up. Since most of our trucks have air brakes, the tanks have to be kept charged so that the trucks are ready to roll at a moments notice. Paul Geiger and his son of Air Supply North, came to our rescue and donated a NEW 2 stage air compressor. Pictured are Paul Geiger (left) and Fire Chief Tim Ebert (right) |
This is the unit that is pulled behind the snowmobile to aid in patient removal from the woods. |
